Never Give Up

So, you’re feeling tired. You’re feeling discouraged. You’re partway through your first draft, and it’s not coming together as you’d like.

Or perhaps you’ve already launched your book, but it’s not getting the attention it deserves. You’ve spent what feels like every ounce of energy writing it… and now you’re supposed to market it also?

It makes you want to give up.

Maybe it’s neither the first draft nor the book launch. Maybe you’re just trying to get ahead with your blog posts or a speech. Maybe you’re in the middle of a big client project. It could be a hundred different things.

The point is, your emotions are telling you to quit. There is no one pressuring you to keep going. It would be easier just to stop.

But before you give up, consider these questions:

Do you believe in what you’re doing?

Do you feel a calling to write?

Have you impacted people with your writing before and hope to do it again?

Does something within your heart come alive when you see your finished work on the screen or the page?

If so, then you must finish what you start. In fact, you have a moral obligation to keep going.

If you have been called to start it, you have also been called to finish it.

If you’re tired, take a little breather and pace yourself. But then get right back at it.

In the words of the great Winston Churchill, “Never, never, never, never give up.”

Today’s Challenge: Think of a time in your life when you have quit something that was important to you. How did it make you feel? Do you wish you had stuck with it?
