There are a lot of challenging aspects of being a writer. There are a lot of potential roadblocks. There’s our time management, sifting through creative ideas, staying inspired, figuring out publishing channels, building an audience, and so on and so on. But in my experience, some of the biggest obstacles come from inside. If we look at why we sometimes are not achieving the impact and success we want, it’s because we are paying attention to the false labels that others have given us, and that we have given ourselves.
My guest today is Bee Evans, and she created an initiative called “Tear Out the Tags,” which is all about removing the labels that are holding us back.
I don’t often do this, but I want to share straight from Bee’s bio for two reasons: 1. It gives you a great taste of who she is, and 2. It’s very, very well-written. So I hope you pay attention to how Bee has framed what she does, who she is, and how she helps people, in just 3 or 4 short paragraphs.
In one single day of work, Bee Evans has worn a hard hat, a cheerleading costume, and high heels. Beginning with a career in oil and gas, Bee found early success as the co-owner of her company. As a former professional cheerleader for The Phoenix Suns, she’d leave the work boots behind and bring her playful, spirited side onto the court.
No stranger to living in different worlds, Bee could seamlessly slide between the two, but she wasn’t happy. Successful business? Check. Creative pursuit of dance? Check. Two amazing kids? Check. But there was something missing. She was living out the script that someone else had written for her. This disconnect began to nag at her. One day, as the tag on her blazer literally scratched at her neck, she realized that we all live with labels that are often uncomfortable and do not fit who we are or who we wish to be.
So began her next chapter: the act of tearing out her own tags and coming to live in alignment with her passions and her work. As a professional speaker, coach and thought leader, Bee helps people break out of the boxes they’ve been living in, tear out their own tags, and create a vision for the life they want.
This is not just a fantastic author bio–it’s also a fantastic message. I have gotten to know Bee over the last few months, and she is not only a genuine encourager, she helps you see yourself in a new way. I know you are going to be blessed by her incredible wisdom in this interview, which is all about tearing out the tags and removing the labels that hold us back.
